Chicane (a.k.a. Nicholas Bracegirdle) is a truly prolific dance producer who has a rich history of composing music and crafting big hitting tunes and he has done so over the course of thirty years. His tracks always manage to fill floors and have often become crossover dance anthems that have seen both underground and chart success. Most famously these hits include the likes of ‘Offshore’, ‘Saltwater’ and ‘Don’t Give Up.’ Over the years, Chicane has split his time between Scotland and a studio he has in the Alpes in France and it is here that he puts out his regular radio show ‘Chicane Sunsets’. The show is available through iTunes and has been a popular number 1 on the podcast download chart as well as being syndicated to more than 30 terrestrial stations around the world.
Chicane is a fine solo producer, but he also writes alongside and produces for the likes of Armin Van Buuren, William Orbit, Sir Tom Jones, Cher and Bryan Adam amongst many more and frequently stars at massive dance festivals such as Creamfields, Glastonbury, Ministry of Sound and he has also been on TV before now, appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show,Channel 5 News, the Paul O’Grady show and Top of The Pops. He has also composed the title music for Fox International sitcom ‘The Odd Couple’ that stars Friends man Matthew Perry. As well as this Chicane still releases great full length albums including The Sum of Its Parts, and these albums often produce many singles and chart number ones including ‘Sunstroke’. All his music is made in the big vistas and cool clear air of the Alps, and it is fair to say that The Sum of Its Parts is one of Chicane’s finest works so far. Packed full of lush, epic synths, gentle rolling trance, dramatic breaks and tough, punchy disco it featured vocalists Lisa Gerrard of Gladiator soundtrack fame, Paul Aiden, Christian Burns and many more and has ensured Chicane is still right at the top where he belongs.
