Meet Simone de Kunovich, Italian DJ and producer with an eclectic approach to electronic music. International resident of Public Records in New York and Minh in Hong Kong, as well as Love on the Rocks family member, he spent the past two decades accumulating a gigantic collection that spans across records, books, synths, movie posters and collectible of all sorts. He’s a house aficionado, everything from deep to tech house and weirder avantgarde inflections (like his Mondo Nuovo trilogy on Japanese publisher Mule Musiq, influenced by 60/70s avantgarde cinema soundtracks): it’s dance music with a wealth of cultural touchpoints behind it, underlined by extensive crate digging and an intuitive feel for rhythm. For this latest Podcast number, Simone delves back into that universe and returns hands full with a patient assemblage, rolling and funky through and through.
