An absolute must listen for any house music lover!
A product of the 80’s San Francisco dance music boom, Doc Martin has been creating innovative, high-energy electronic music for over three decades. Once a mainstay on the Pacific Northwest scene, he has gone on to perform everywhere from Ibiza to Tokyo, London and beyond, building an enduring and influential body of work in the process.
Doc Martin’s choice to pursue a career in music was an obvious one, given the musical family he grew up in. Most notably, his mother sang with Bay Area icons Jefferson Starship. Doc, however, was drawn to the emerging electronic subcultures taking shape across the country. Endless hours spent in San Francisco’s indie record stores armed him with a deep knowledge of everything from acid house to techno, shaping the genre-bending style that would come to define his career.
Within a few years of his first performances, Doc was selling out shows across his hometown and setting his sights on a global stage. In the early 90’s, he relocated to Los Angeles, quickly embedding himself in the city’s thriving rave scene. Not long after, his rising profile took him to Europe, where he became a regular at some of the continent’s most iconic clubs and parties, including Fabric (residency), Circoloco, Rex Club, Panorama Bar and Sunwaves. Over the years, he has become a favorite with audiences from New York to London, performing at institutions such as Output, Coachella, The Roxy, Twilo, Cityfox, Space, Desert Hearts, Movement and Lightning in a Bottle. Alongside his club career, he has DJ’ed for Grace Jones and James Brown, and served as tour DJ for Deee-Lite.
After decades of bringing people together through music, Doc Martin’s passion and drive remain as strong as ever. He continues to evolve, revealing new dimensions of his artistry while maintaining a global touring schedule and releasing some of the most compelling music of his career. A true elder statesman of electronic music, his legacy is firmly established – and still growing with every set he plays.
